Scientific communication doesn’t have to live only at the “papers + peer review” end of the spectrum. There’s a whole range — and at the extreme exiting end sits the Science Slam.

So what is it? A Science Slam is a friendly “battle” where scientists explain their research in the most interesting, funny, and engaging way possible. Think stand-up for a scientific crowd: you’re in a pub, you want people to laugh and enjoy themselves, but also walk away actually understanding what you do day-to-day in your research.

That’s exactly what we’re organising as part of the Winter School at the Hideaway. Come along to mingle with colleagues, listen to the pitches, and — if you’re up for it — volunteer to be one of the slammers!
